Shopify’s pricing page shows four plans, but your real monthly bill depends on three things: the plan, the payment fees on each order, and the apps and extras you add. Below are the current US prices from Shopify’s pricing page in October 2026, what each fee means, and a few worked examples so you can estimate your own cost.
If you are just starting, remember that you do not pay full price right away: Shopify gives 3 days free and then $1 a month for 3 months. More on that in our Shopify free trial guide.

Shopify plans and prices
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed yearly | Best for | Staff accounts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $39 | $29 / mo | Solo sellers | 1 (owner) |
| Grow | $105 | $79 / mo | Small teams | 5 |
| Advanced | $399 | $299 / mo | Larger and international stores | 15 |
| Plus | from $2,300 | Contract | High-volume brands | Unlimited |

Every plan includes the online store, unlimited products, the Shopify checkout, Sidekick AI assistant, email marketing, discount codes, abandoned checkout recovery, 24/7 support and selling on social media and marketplaces. Higher plans add staff accounts, lower card rates, better reports and features like live third-party shipping rates.
Shopify also lists a $0 Agentic plan for listing products in AI shopping channels, where you pay only when you sell. It is not a full online store.
Payment and transaction fees
| Fee (US) | Basic | Grow | Advanced | Plus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Online card rate (Shopify Payments) | 2.9% + 30¢ | 2.7% + 30¢ | 2.5% + 30¢ | 2.25% + 30¢ |
| In-person card rate | 2.6% + 10¢ | 2.5% + 10¢ | 2.4% + 10¢ | 2.3% + 10¢ |
| International cards | +1% | +1% | +1% | +1% |
| Third-party gateway fee | 2% | 1% | 0.6% | 0.2% |
The third-party fee only applies if you use a payment provider other than Shopify Payments. For most US sellers, Shopify Payments is the cheaper option because it removes that extra fee.

Other costs to budget for
- Apps: Many have free plans; paid apps typically cost $5 to $50 a month each.
- Theme: Free themes cost nothing. Premium themes are a one-time payment, often $200 to $400.
- Domain: About $15 a year.
- POS Pro: $89 a month per location for advanced retail features.
- Marketplace sync: 50 synced marketplace orders a month are free, then 1% up to $99 a month.
- Shipping labels: Paid per label, with discounts of up to 87% through Shopify Shipping.
What a real month costs
1New store, $1,000 in sales
Basic yearly $29 + card fees about $38 (30 orders of about $33) + one $10 app = about $77 a month.
2Growing store, $10,000 in sales
Basic yearly $29 + card fees about $380 (300 orders of about $33) + $40 in apps = about $449. Grow costs $50 more but would cut card fees by only about $20, so Basic still wins here.
3Established store, $50,000 in sales
Grow yearly $79 + card fees about $1,800 (vs about $1,900 on Basic) + $100 in apps. The lower card rate saves more than Grow’s extra $50 once monthly sales pass about $25,000.
Which plan should you choose?
- Basic for almost everyone starting out.
- Grow when you need staff accounts or your monthly sales are high enough that the lower card rate covers the price difference.
- Advanced for international selling with local pricing per region, 15 staff accounts or heavy reporting needs.
- Plus for high-volume brands that need checkout customization, B2B at scale and priority support.
What happened to the Starter plan?
Shopify’s $5 Starter plan, built for selling through social media and payment links, has been closed to new merchants. Existing Starter stores can keep using it but cannot switch back after upgrading. New sellers now start on Basic, usually through the $1 trial offer.
