Yes, Emergent has a free plan, and you do not need a credit card to use it. You get 10 credits a month, access to the same AI models as paid users and the full web and mobile builder.
The catch is what happens after you build. Free projects stay inside Emergent: you cannot publish them to a live URL, attach your own domain or sync the code to GitHub. This guide explains what 10 credits buy, why there is no classic free trial, and the point at which paying $20 starts to make sense.

What the free plan includes
According to Emergent’s pricing page, the free plan covers:
- 10 free credits every month
- All core platform features
- Web and mobile app building
- Access to the most advanced models Emergent offers
- One-click LLM integration, so your app can call AI models without you managing API keys

Sign-up is open to everyone. You can register with Google, an email address or a phone number, and you do not need an invite code.

How far 10 credits go
Emergent does not publish a fixed cost per prompt. Simple requests such as changing text or colours use a few credits; asking the agent to plan and build a multi-page app with a database, testing and bug fixing uses many more. In practice, 10 credits are enough to:
- Generate a first version of a simple landing page or form
- Ask for a few rounds of design and copy changes
- Check whether Emergent’s agent understands your idea before you spend money
They are usually not enough to finish an app with user accounts, payments and several screens. Treat the free plan as a test drive, not as a way to ship a product.
What the free plan does not include
| Feature | Free | Standard ($20) |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly credits | 10 | 100 |
| Publish to a live URL | No | Yes |
| Custom domain | No | Yes |
| Private project hosting | No | Yes |
| GitHub integration | No | Yes |
| Buy extra credits | No | Yes |
| Fork tasks | No | Yes |
The two limits that matter most are publishing and GitHub. Without publishing, nobody else can use your app. Without GitHub, you cannot export the code to keep working on it elsewhere.
Free trial, free Pro and free credits
Searches like “Emergent free trial” and “Emergent AI Pro free” are common, so here is the short version of each.
1Free trial
Emergent does not offer a 7-day or 14-day trial of Standard or Pro. The free plan replaces it: it never expires, but it is capped at 10 credits a month.
2Free Pro access
Pro costs $200 a month. Emergent does not give it away publicly. Sites claiming free Pro or 70% off codes are third-party coupon pages, and we could not verify any of them. More on that in our Emergent promo codes guide.
3Free credits
Your 10 free credits refresh each month. Credits do not roll over, so unused ones are lost when the month ends. Emergent occasionally runs AI contests and community events; check its official channels rather than coupon sites.
When to upgrade
Upgrade to Standard when one of these becomes true:
- You want other people to use your app on a real URL
- You need your own domain
- You want your code in GitHub
- You keep hitting the 10-credit limit in the first week of the month
Standard costs $20 a month, or $17 a month billed yearly. Remember that hosting is billed from your credits: the smallest publishing tier uses 50 of Standard’s 100 monthly credits. Our full Emergent pricing breakdown explains hosting tiers and top-ups in detail.
Outgrown the free plan?
Standard adds publishing, custom domains, GitHub and 100 credits a month.

Frequently asked questions
Is Emergent completely free?
Emergent has a permanent free plan with 10 credits a month and no card required. Publishing apps, custom domains and GitHub sync require a paid plan starting at $20 a month.
Does Emergent have a free trial?
There is no time-limited trial of the paid plans. The free plan works as an open-ended trial: you can build and preview with 10 monthly credits for as long as you like.
Is Emergent Pro free for anyone?
No. Pro costs $200 a month or $167 a month billed yearly. Pages promising free Pro access are usually coupon or giveaway sites that Emergent does not run.
What can I build with 10 Emergent credits?
Enough for a simple prototype or a few rounds of edits on a small app. A full app with logins, a database and payments usually needs more credits than the free plan provides.
Can I publish an app on the Emergent free plan?
No. You can preview your app inside Emergent, but a public URL and a custom domain need at least the Standard plan, and hosting costs 50 credits a month or more.
